Today OH and I decided to bite the bullet and change the sitting room from a 'junk storage area' to a living room! This involved much shuffling of paper, moving of boxes and intermittant murmerings of 'How did it get this bad!!??'
Elliecat occasionally appeared from the garden and sat amongst the devastation with a look of quiet tolerance ....wondering how she managed to get us out of all the people who visited the Cats Protoection League on that fateful day! We sorted, shifted and shoved things from one place to another, even managing to put the occasional item in the black rubbish bag. The garage is now bursting at the seams, full of things which will no doubt mysteriously find their way back into the house unless we pay proper attention.
I have acquired a load of stuff for Ebay...and I know if I gave up work and spent the next 10 years sitting at the computer I would never get all these 'must-have- items put on for sale! The 'buying ' public must be tense with anticiaption.
OH has even managed to put some beloved radio 'bits' out in the black bag.....although he looked very pale while he was doing it and I wouldn't like to say he won't rescue them once he thinks I've stopped paying attention!
We have decided to get an estate agent in to give us a 'warts and all' valuation on the house although even we didn't think it fair to inflict the full horror of our clutter on an unsuspecting innocent.....hence the 'tidy-up'.
Mind you, it is lovely to relaim some space even if the sight of the far end of the room now brings me out in a raging case of agorophbia!!.......I'd actually forgotten there was a pattern on the carpet!
Anyway, Elliecat has registered her disapproval at today's activity by further shreding of the sofa and quiet dismantling of the ever increasing pile of black bags.
I'm completeley 'crackered' and keen to reacquaint myslf with the duvet so if there is a spare bit of clutter lurking in a remote corner then it will have to stay there until another day!!
